HURN COURT OPERA SINGING COMPETITION 2019
Inaugurated in January 2018, the Hurn Court Opera Singing Competition provides an important platform for young vocal talent. It also provides a key to future performance opportunities with HCO, and offers the chance to develop over a period of time under the supporting wing of the professionals associated with the company.

Wendy Blamire Award* – £300 Winner – Milly Forrest
*The Wendy Blamire Award is given for outstanding linguistic and artistic commitment to text in at least two European languages other than English. The award will be made at the judges’ discretion after either the semi-finals or finals. If no performance is judged of sufficient merit in a given year, the award will not be made.
The winner of the First Prize will be invited to perform with Hurn Court Opera and all competitors may be considered by the Artistic Director for future performance opportunities.
Semi-finals and finals
Sunday 7 July 2019 at the Kimmeridge Theatre, Talbot Campus, Bournemouth University, BH12 5BB before a public audience.
Semi-finals 11.00am; finals 4.00pm.
Following preliminary rounds in London on 25 and 26 May, we’re delighted to announce the eight semi-finalists:

Arthur Bruce, baritone
Milly Forrest, soprano
Irene Hoogveld, soprano
Konrad Jaromin, bass-baritone
Clover Kayne, mezzo-soprano
Alexander Simpson, counter-tenor
In the semi-final, singers will perform one operatic aria and two songs. The jury will select four finalists, who will each perform a 20-minute programme in the final starting at 4.00pm.
