I am so happy to hear that Simon’s Miami Strauss songs will be re-broadcast and “available,” as I certainly was unable to locate the program on the radio station’s site. The reviews are oddly mixed – most of them very positive, with one rather less so. I have always thought Simon’s Strauss was top-notch ever since his early Strauss Lieder CD. Certainly all his devotees would agree with the assessment of him as the best thing to happen to Lieder singing since Fischer-Dieskau.
It looks like Simon will be singing Winterreise a number of times next season with Emanuel Ax on piano; I wonder if this means the long-promised Winterreise CD will at last be recorded with Ax at the keyboard rather than Martineau?
Simon has not sung a recent recital in New York, so I was heartened to see the all-French recital with Ax at Tully Hall announced for late April 2015. Since he usually sings a recital in New York in proximity to a string of performances at the Met, I wonder if this means the rumored French version of Don Carlos under the baton of Nezet-Seguin (sp?) is actually coming off? Hope so.

A manager of WCLV Radio answered me via e-mail that this concert also will be available “on demand” on WCLV’s website during 2 weeks after repeated broadcast, since 17/03/2014

Simon singing Strauss has been such a rare commodity, unless there is a chance that the Paris recital will be broadcast?

I was searching too … I only found that the concert will be broadcast again on Sunday, March 16, at 4:00 p.m. (EST)…. this is should be 9:00 pm in UK and 10:00 pm in Germany.

Congratulations to Simon! Another excellent review of the Miami concert, making it even more frustrating to be unable to find a link to ‘ listen again’ from the UK on WCLV Radio .
Can anyone help, please? I would be SO grateful.

The second critic (Octavio Roca) also wrote this earlier in his review:
“Simon Keenlyside — since the passing of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau — the finest baritone before the public today, sang a generous programme of orchestral songs by Richard Strauss.”
