More cancellations for 2020

Due to the ongoing coronavirus situation, the Austrian Federal Government announced yesterday that all indoor events of more than 100 participants due to take place up to 30 June 2020 will now be cancelled. This means that Simon’s concert in April with Marina Rebeka at the Konzerthaus, Vienna, will not now take place. The June performances of La Traviata and Falstaff at the Vienna State Opera have also been cancelled.

I saw the programme last sunday and was shocked that the rumours became true. I can’t understand why?! He is such a great artist and Viennese people love him. I can’t understand why Bogdan Roscic made this desicion to finish Simon’s career in Vienna. I am deeply sad with tears in my eyes. Still can’t believe that we will not see him again on stage and talk with him after the performance…

Nothing, Karin. Apparently the Traviata and Falstaff would have been his final appearances in Vienna. It was rumoured before that Simon won’t appear in Vienna in the future with the new management. And it apparently seems to be true. Simon will not appear on the stage of the Vienna State Opera in the 2020/21 season according to the just released season schedule. So it is especially sad that La Traviata and Falstaff had to be canceled for this season. It seems that Simon’s career at the Vienna State Opera is really over. 🙁
