An interview in Opera, 1997, recounts that in 1988 SK “was giving a Lieder recital, which as an extra was advertised in red on the standard poster promising Domingo in Otello in which Keenlyside sang the “Soldier Fred” role of Montano”. This was the catalyst for him to be poached by Scottish Opera.
