For their 40th anniversary Clasart Classics will return for a third time to the monastery basilica of St. Florian to record “Ein Deutsches Requiem” by Johannes Brahms (Op. 45) with the Cleveland Orchestra under the baton of Franz Welser-Möst. Simon Keenlyside and Hanna-Elisabeth Müller have been engaged as soloists. The Vienna Singverein will make up the chorus. Brian Large, who has for many years been associated with Clasart, will direct the cameras.

After recording the symphonies, the piano concertos and the violin concerto, the Cleveland Orchestra will conclude their Brahms Cycle with the Requiem, one of the greatest and most moving works for chorus and orchestra. The Cleveland Orchestra, which is regarded as the most European sounding of the American flagship orchestras, has for several years set new standards in Brahms interpretations thanks to the expertise of Franz Welser-Möst.

The initial broadcast is scheduled for ORF on 1.11.2016. The DVD and Blu Ray will be published worldwide at Christmas.
