Bonjour Simon,

Hello all together,
Is it really true, that Simon will perform the count in “Nozze” in Milan November 2016? When had he signed this, who can it tell me?
Thank you indeed very much!
Greatings Susan
Recently announced that F. Furlanetto replaces Keenlyside for the 8 April Singer’s Studio interview session.
So sorry to hear of Simon’s recent vocal troubles and that he has had to cancel a bunch of his engagements through April. Wishing him only the best of luck and success in overcoming this trouble–and looking forward to seeing him when he is well enough to return and continue doing what he does so well!
According to the website http://www.pragueeventscalendar.com Simon is appearing at the New Town Hall on 25th Jan at 17.30hrs as well as the concert on the 27th.
Diana.
Those unable to see Simon in Edinburgh on August 20th might like to know that the recital will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 according to the eif website.
Diana.
Hello,
This is a sort of repeat, but we can again listen to Durufle’s Requiem performed in Munich last month on BBC Radio 3;
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b040hw9m
Enjoy it while it is available.
Cheers
You can listen again to a few minutes of Simon’s Orestes on Radio 3 iPlayer as extracts from Marc Minkowsky’s recording of Iphigenie en Tauride were used in ‘The Early Music Show’, 2pm on Sunday 6 April. The recording was Radio 3’s ‘Building a Library’ choice for this opera.
Hello SKinfo Team,
MET announced the 2014-2015 season. Although the original French version was rumored, it turned out to be a revival of ROH production sung in Italian. 8 performances are scheduled for March and April, 2015. http://www.metoperafamily.org/opera/don-carlo-verdi-tickets
Cheers

Looks as if Simon will be in Vienna for Christmas!!
I see from the March schedule on the Askonas Holt website that Simon will be singing Duruflé’s Requiem in Stockholm on March 7th and 8th and then twice in Munich shortly before the Luxembourg recital.
According to the website http://www.philharmonie.lu Simon and Malcolm Martineau are giving a recital on 18.03.14 at salle de musique de chambre (presumably in Luxembourg). It looks like a very interesting and unusual programme, with Schonberg , Eisler, Britten, Strauss and Schubert. Fingers crossed it makes it onto radio broadcast!
Diana.
Something to raise a wry smile from our nature-loving ‘working man’:-
From The Times 29 Dec 2012 – What the Critics Would Pay to See in 2013 – Terfel and Keenlyside Sept 7
‘Surely the vocal recital of the year: the mighty bass-baritone Bryn Terfel and GLAMOROUS baritone Simon Keenlyside open Wigmore Hall’s season, together with the pianist Malcolm Martineau.’
(Surely they could have thought of an adjective for Malcolm as well – matchless?)
I wish you nice evening, Mr. Keenlyside. I missed your concert in Prague, but I saw your performances of Macbeth and Don Carlos (MET, Vienna). Really very impressive!
I hope to see you again in Vienna.
You will sing The Cunning Little Vixen…. That´s great! You will have some adviser for Czech language? As I think that Czech language is not easy at all for the foreigners.
Wish you nice Christmas season and all the best for the next year´s performances as well as for your personal life.
Wigmore – Yes. And you’d better hurry – not many left!
It’s now possible to book tickets for the Wigmore Hall concert.
Lieber Simon, You know how much I’m looking forward to the 26/04/2013?!!!!!
I’ve heard you in Vienna: Macbeth / Christmas 2009! It was this, and only that Macbeth absolutely gorgeous “2011 recital in Hamburg -!! I was abroad! Merde!
Iestyn D. wrote me this time (2013), fantastic. All the best and much success. Too bad, the opera centers in Germany: Berlin, Munich, Dresden ( Thielemann!) , but Hamburg???? ….. Sigh! A bientot rainer
I guess you have seen this which came in this morning?
Hello All
Following received today, I can’t wait to get my hands on this performance!

The London Symphony Orchestra’s wrenching performance of Britten’s “War
Requiem” (with Sabina Cvilak, Ian Bostridge, and Simon Keenlyside; conducted
by Gianandrea Noseda) was recorded during one of the Barbican performances
and is to released on 7 May (UK). It is available for pre-orders on Amazon
(note–it is considerably cheaper to order this from Amazon UK than Amazon
US).
I heard this performed at Avery Fisher during the LSO’s tour last October,
and like many in the audience was moved to tears. I am looking forward to
receiving my copy of the recording.
Last week’s review in the Sunday Times:
Celebrating its half century on May 30, Britten’s great antiwar oratorio is
arguably the only modern classic of its kind to have found the widest
audience and increasing critical acclaim. This live recording, from the
Barbican Hall last October, was to have been conducted by the LSO’s
president , Colin Davis, but the demands of the work proved a deterrent to
the now 84-year-old conductor. (At the first performance, in Coventry
Cathedral, Britten baulked at tackling the whole work himself, opting for
the lesser challenge of conducting the chamber ensemble that accompanies the
tenor and baritone settings of Wilfred Owen s searing war poems.) Noseda
proves a more than worthy substitute, easily encompassing the dramatic scale
of the work with its operatic Latin choruses the liturgical text led by a
hieratic high priestess soprano. Although LSO forces did not perform at the
world premiere, Britten chose them for his iconic recording with the three
soloists, Galina Vishnevskaya, Peter Pears and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, for
whom he tailor-made their parts. The Slovenian soprano Sabina Cvilak has a
bright, silvery penetrating timbre. Ian Bostridge’s tenor is as individual
and idiosyncractic as Pears’s in its own way. Simon Keenlyside, too, is
magnificent, while the two choirs relish their grateful, inspiring music.

Oh, it´s a great pity that SK can´t sing in the performances in Vienna (I have a ticket for Jan 20).
Please, let me know, if SK will go to my country (in Prague). Thanks.
Hello! What a disappointment due to the cancelation of all three performances in Vienna in January 2012.I had a tıcket for the Jan.16 performance and was so excited about hearing SK live on satge once more.Hope all is well with SK. inci Birsel
I found changes in the cast of Un Ballo di Maschera in Viena. Leo Nucci will sing Rodrigo… So, SK has cancelled.
Hello all fans!
Yesterday (29.9.) I have seen a nice performance with Simon and other good singers in Hamburg. This concert named: Szenen aus Schumanns “Faust”, dirigated by Jeffrey Tate. It was a very great success: standing ovations for the three male and the five
female singers, a chorus with eighty voices and a smaller boy chorus from Bad Tölz.
Kindly regards
Susanne from Germany
Yes, I know but it is a not a public performance and so no chance for us to listen to ….or do you have other informantion?
regards
Petra
Hi Ladies,
Just wanted to let you know that Simon will be singing a concert performance of La Traviata in Munich on 10 September, alongside Alyson Cambridge and Joseph Calleja.
Regards
Alice
Hello,
Just to let you know that Bavarian State Opera and Vienna State Opera just announced 2011-2012 season details. Simon will return to Munich, but for Eugene Onegin in March and Wozzeck in July. Don Carlo is scheduled for January without him, though. In this production, M. Kweicien will be Rodrigo while the rest of main casts are exactly what indicated before. For Vienna, he will sing Rodrigo, again, in Italian Version in June, 2012.
Cheers!
I had a note in my 2011 diary that SJK was to sing at the Royal Festival Hall on 28th April in a (?Mahler) programme with Maazel. Does anyone know if this is still on? (If I’ve missed previous notes about this, do forgive me.)
Thanks so much for all your work on this (definitely my favourite) website – we’d be lost without it. HS
Hello to all of the S.K.info team, Simon will be at Salzburg in July and August interpreting Count Almaviva in “The House of Mozart”!
Kind regards from Germany
Susanne
